Vaccinations

Flu

Every year from September to January the surgery runs flu vaccination clinics. Those patients over the age of 65 and also patients under 65 in certain health risk groups will receive notification from the surgery advising them of the dates of the clinics. Patients should then follow the advice in the letter about booking an appointment.

Patients who are housebound will be visited by a nurse and vaccinated in their home.

The NHS website provides further information about who can get it, how to book and where to get the vaccine.

Travel vaccinations

It is important to make this initial appointment as early as possible, at least six weeks before you travel. Vaccines have to be ordered as they are not a stock item.

Travel vaccines required closer to the date of travel will need to be arranged with a private travel clinic.

Private clinics:

Some travel vaccines are ordered on a private prescription and these incur a charge over and above the normal prescription charge. This is because not all travel vaccinations are included in the services provided by the NHS.

Immunisation clinic

Childhood immunisation clinics are held at Vernon Street and the Lanes throughout the week. Parents or guardians will receive letters from the surgery advising them when their child’s injections are due.

COVID-19

COVID-19 vaccination is safe and effective. It gives you the best protection against COVID-19.

The NHS website provides information about the vaccination, who can get it, and safety and side effects.
