Keep safe in the hot weather

To stay safe in hot weather, stay hydrated, avoid strenuous activities during peak heat and seek cool environments.

  • Drink plenty of water
  • Avoid dehydrating beverages
  • Recognise heat related symptoms – signs of heat exhaustion which include dizziness, excessive sweating, nausea and headaches
  • Heat stroke warning – Heat stroke is a medical emergency. Symptoms include confusion, slurred speech and loss of consciousness. Seek help immediately if you experience any of these symptoms.
  • Dress appropriately – opt for loose fitting clothing to help your body stay cool.
  • Stay cool – Spend time in air-conditioned places, use fans wisely or take a cool bath or shower.
