Flu and COVID Vaccine Clinics 2021

It is more important than ever that you receive your flu and COVID vaccines (in line with the government guidance) during the COVID-19 pandemic. Contracting flu and / or COVID19 could be life threatening. Drop in flu  clinics for 2021 will be operated  to ensure they are COVID safe and we keep both staff and patients protected. Please read this carefully to ensure you are fully informed and we are able to deliver a COVID safe service.

The flu vaccine is currently available to everyone aged 50 and over, and to anyone under that age if they are in an “at risk” category. If you have been identified as being in one of these groups an appointment invitation letter, inviting you to one of our flu clinics will be sent to you shortly via text or letter if this isn’t possible.

We have been advised that their is a supply chain issue with the flu vaccine and have delayed our first flu clinic to allow for this. We would hope that no further disruption, due to the shortage of distribution drivers, will be experienced but would like to make you aware that we may need to rearrange clinics at short notice if the vaccine delivery isn’t received. We thankyou for your ongoing understanding. This situation is completely out of our control.

COVID vaccine booster will be available in the surgery during our flu clinics and additional COVID vaccine clinics set up at The Lanes Medical Centre on Tuesdays and Wednesday in October and November. Communication will be sent to all patients as they become eligible for the COVID booster (180 days after their second dose), requesting an appointment is booked to attend The Lanes Medical Centre for their booster. patients are asked to access the building via the side door, allow for a 15 minute wait after the vaccine in reception, and leave the surgery using the front door.

Appointment slots are being used for patients flu and boosters, to enable social distancing and you are asked to adhere to these. These can be booked via phone or on the website.

Additional flu clinics will be very limited this year and you are encouraged to attend the appointed clinic time confirmed on individual communications.

Your responsibility:

  • Do not attend if you have any symptoms of COVID-19 – high temperature, new continuous cough, loss of taste, loss of smell
  • Do not attend if anyone in your household is isolating for COVID-19
  • All individuals aged 11 years and over must attend wearing a face covering over their nose and mouth and wear it all the time whilst in the practice, unless within a government exemption category
  • Arrive on-time for your appointment, stay in your car if you arrive early
  • Attend unaccompanied unless you need a carer
  • Wear a short sleeve top in preparation for seeing the nurse and to reduce your time in practice. Clinics will not be private and appropriate clothing will be required to enable the administration of the vaccine without undressing
  • Appointment will be for flu vaccine and  the COVID booster only – we will not have any additional time to answer any other medical questions
